CH 04 · ABOUT THE SHOW

About Uptime Dad

Uptime Dad is a fast-talking, slightly glitchy late-night TV show beamed out of a basement in Minnesota. The topics: homelabs on a budget, running AI on your own hardware, gaming, 3D printing, Lego, DIY projects, and the occasional techno track. It is made for IT folks and for dads (and anyone else) who like to tinker.

House rules

  • Honest numbers. Costs go on the Budget Scoreboard, including the mistakes.
  • No invented results. If something has not been tested yet, it says so.
  • Family-friendly. Bring the kids, they can help hold the screwdriver.
  • Budget first. Used parts, free software, and what you already own beat shiny new gear.

AI disclosure

Placeholder: full disclosure coming before the first episode airs.

The plan is for the show to have an AI-generated host character, built and rendered on homelab hardware. The host is a made-up cartoon-style character, not a likeness of any real person. When AI is used to generate a voice, video, images, or text for this site or the show, it will be labeled.

The TV in the corner of the screen is a placeholder for that host. It is just art for now.
